This client is a national distributor that is seeking a career driven servant leader.
About the Role This position will be responsible for almost 200 class A drivers and the support team.
Responsibilities
Operational Oversight:
Directs daily transportation activities, including routing, scheduling, and driver dispatch to ensure timely delivery of food products.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensures strict compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company regulations, maintaining a "safety-first" culture to prevent accidents and ensure driver compliance with safety standards and electronic logs.
Budget and Cost Management:
Develops and manages transportation budgets, labor hours, fuel expenditures, and capital expenditures on equipment (tractors, trailers) to maximize profitability.
Team Leadership:
Manages staff, including Transportation Managers, supervisors, and drivers, focusing on recruiting, training, performance management, and driver retention.
Customer Service:
Interacts with customers, sales teams, and warehouse teams to resolve service issues and meet KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for on-time delivery.
Continuous Improvement:
Leverages transportation management systems (TMS) and data analytics to optimize routes, reduce waste, and increase delivery efficiencies.
Qualifications
Experience:
Typically requires 5-7+ years of experience in transportation or logistics management, with specific experience in food or foodservice distribution preferred.
Knowledge:
Deep understanding of DOT regulations, OSHA regulations, and driver management.
Required Skills
Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills;
Proficiency in computer software and routing systems.
Preferred Skills
Experience in food or foodservice distribution preferred.
