Job Summary The Director of Range Operations & Shooting Sports will own the safety, utilization, revenue, and reputation of Sellmark Ranch’s shooting facilities. This role is responsible for leading all aspects of range operations, ensuring best‑in‑class experiences for customers, partners, and internal teams while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance. This individual will drive strategic growth by maximizing facility usage, developing programs and events, and identifying new revenue opportunities.
Essential Duties And Tasks Operations & Safety
Daily range operations
Safety protocols and compliance
RSO staffing, training, and performance
Match and event safety oversight
Equipment, targets, and range infrastructure readiness
Program & Revenue Development
Build and scale: membership programs, competitions and leagues, training clinics, range events for all types of participants
Achieve 70–80% range utilization within 18 months
Upsell range use into hunts and lodging
Collaborate with Hospitality and Hunting on bundled experiences
Collaboration & Brand
Work with marketing on content, events, and promotions
Represent Sellmark Ranch professionally to competitive shooting communities, Law Enforcement and military partners, high‑end private clients
Qualifications
Law Enforcement or Military background (required)
Proven commercial range leadership experience (required)
Competition shooting involvement (PRS, USPSA, NRL, etc.)
NRA Master RSO certification (required)
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Comfortable with high‑end and corporate clientele
Willingness to utilize on‑property housing as needed
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work is primarily performed outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, and dust common to Texas climates.
This position requires frequent physical activity such as walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs or more), climbing, and operating ranch equipment. Long hours of standing and manual labor are expected.
Work Schedule/Hours Schedules will vary depending on business needs, and may entail working nights, weekends and holidays. Must be flexible to work outside departmental operating hours.
