Overview

The Director of Institutional Research provides leadership and performs all necessary functions related to the collection, interpretation, and use of institutional data for planning, assessment, and decision making. Facilitates access to information maintained in the college’s administrative/student information system to support college operations and monitors key institutional indicators, ensuring the integrity of data/information released in reports or studies, and providing data analysis, reporting, or research as needed to support institutional objectives. Additionally, this role will oversee compliance reporting, accreditation support, and advanced analytics initiatives to enhance institutional effectiveness. The Director of Institutional Research is responsible for the preparation, dissemination, and management of information necessary for institutional and specialty accreditations, public accountability, internal and external reporting, such as program review or student learning outcomes assessment, and support for strategic planning initiatives, as well as additional research about the institution. The director will oversee the College’s data governance and will play a key role in empowering members of the College to use and understand data. Data Reporting and Surveys

Serve as the IPEDS Keyholder. Oversee the completion of IPEDS surveys, ensuring the accuracy of data submitted, and utilization of the IPEDS reporting tools to retrieve comparable data on other institutions for benchmarking purposes. Coordinate the timely and accurate completion of all other mandatory reporting, including requests from the Higher Learning Commission and Ohio Department of Higher Education, as well as requests related to institutional rankings and key drivers of enrollment. Provide leadership in planning, management and administration of major College-wide surveys (e.g., Common Data Set, SENSE, CCCSE). Assist in the preparation and distribution of information needed for campus constituencies for the timely completion of external accreditations (HLC, ODHE, etc.), and internal reporting (academic program reviews, assessment of student learning, strategic and operational planning). Assist prospective PIs in the grant proposal process through the identification and provision of data to support proposals. Assist the College administration with responding to data requests and with data visualization efforts on campus. Data Governance and Stewardship

Direct and maintain formal data governance program for the College, assembling and leading the Data Governance Committee, monitoring the institutional data request process, and coordinating the efforts of data stewardship in maintaining and enhancing data integrity. Empowering the College to Use and Understand Data Serve as a resource to the campus community in understanding internal and external data, definitions, and guidelines. Educate the campus constituents on the effective use and interpretation of institutional data. Participate in various teams, departmental, divisional, or College committees and working groups as required. Data Analysis

Assist in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of key performance indicators of institution-wide effectiveness. Apply high-level statistical methodologies to conduct sophisticated analyses with data gathered through surveys and other information sources in order to support College’s decision-making process. Conduct applied research that generates insightful information for the College, including utilizing national and regional databases, and benchmarking. College Representation

Attend State of Ohio OACC meetings and conferences to represent the interests of the College. Attend national conferences supporting the College’s efforts with institutional research AIR, HLC, JAM, Educause, etc. Membership is professional organizations representing institutional research OAIRP, AIP. Qualifications

Master’s degree

required that includes coursework in statistics, business evaluation, and/or research methods. Experience with organizational effectiveness and planning in a higher education environment preferred. Experience with research methodology and data collection, analysis and interpretation. Must possess excellent analytical and organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across all segments of the institution. Strong knowledge and experience with various software tools and programming languages such as SQL, Excel, Power BI or similar tools useful in data collection, analysis, and visualization required. Preferred

Experience with compliance reporting, and advanced statistical tools. Familiarity with Jenzabar One, Power BI, and data visualization platforms. Benefits
