Job Description The Benefits Specialist supports the local administration of Benefits, Wellness, and Leave of Absence programs and assists employees with inquiries. This role handles escalated questions from Tier 1 and applies knowledge of benefits processes and regulations to ensure accurate guidance. The specialist provides input on health and wellness offerings and collaborates with the Benefits Broker and vendors to help facilitate Health, Welfare, Retirement, and Wellness offerings. The Benefits Specialist reports to the Manager of Compensation and Benefits and works closely with Vanderlande’s Payroll, Tier 1 HR Service Agents, and HR Partner teams.

Key Responsibilities

Provide daily guidance and solutions to US employees on Benefits, 401k Plan, Leave of Absence matters and translates into local policy where needed

Present benefits overview during new hire orientation and serves as a helpful resource to newly hired employees

In conjunction with the benefits broker, oversee annual open enrollment, ensuring that employees are educated on benefit offerings and timelines

Responsible for maintaining the local knowledge base with pertinent Benefits information

Partner with benefits broker and Comp & Ben Manager to formulate and deliver a comprehensive wellness campaign

Coordinate Wellness programming ensuring physical, financial and mental health Wellness programs are executed appropriately

Process qualifying life events and communicate with employees accordingly

Partner with LOA third party vendor, HR Partners, and in-house labor attorney to ensure employee LOAs are compliant with company policies and federal regulations

Partner with third party vendor to ensure timely and accurate COBRA administration

Partner with Service Award vendor to ensure delivery of milestone service awards to employees timely and accurately

Perform monthly vendor billing and payroll reconciliation

Perform internal audits as needed

Responsible for collaborating Comp & Ben Manager to understand and implement processes, focusing on employee experience and continuous improvement of benefits, and LOA processes

Responsible for identifying service issues, proactively proposing improvements and leading or supporting the implementation of changes

Qualifications

Five years of experience in administering local Benefits, Leave of Absence programs and policies

Knowledge of Benefits and LOA federal regulations and laws

Experience working as an employee-facing Benefits service delivery professional

Intermediate-level Excel skills, including functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data formatting

Experience working with an HRIS system, preferably Workday

Basic project management skills
