
Director Insurance Accounting and Reporting

About the Role
Kforce's client, a well-established organization in Saint Louis, MO, is seeking a Director of Insurance Accounting and Reporting to lead statutory financial reporting, technical accounting, with experience in public accounting auditing insurance companies and team management within a complex insurance environment. This client offers salary and benefits in a teamwork environment corporate culture. The position will be hybrid, 3 days in the office, 2 days remote.
Responsibilities
Oversee statutory reporting, technical accounting, and regulatory compliance within a complex insurance environment
Responsible for leading teams and managing full‑cycle quarterly and annual statutory reporting, including financial statements, filings, and investment schedules
Acts as key liaison with auditors while providing oversight of financial results, regulatory reporting, and technical accounting research for complex transactions
Drives process improvements and supports cross‑functional finance initiatives to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy
Requirements
Master's degree in Accounting and/or CPA required
10+ years of insurance experience, strong leadership background, and expertise in statutory reporting
Advanced Excel (ERP experience preferred)
Proven people leadership and stakeholder management experience
Strong technical accounting, analytical, and communication skills
Advanced Excel skills; PeopleSoft experience preferred
Compensation & Benefits The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
