Director of Preconstruction - Commercial & Industrial Electrical - Denver, CO
A growing electrical contractor is looking for a strategic Director of Preconstruction to bridge the gap between initial concepts and operational reality. You will be responsible for guiding estimating operations, client engagement, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management to ensure projects are set up for success from concept through handoff.
Responsibilities
Strategic Oversight:
Direct all preconstruction phases across a diverse project portfolio to ensure operational excellence.
Team Empowerment:
Champion the professional growth of the estimating team, instilling a culture of high precision and departmental efficiency.
Financial Stewardship:
Oversee the creation and refinement of project budgets, value engineering, and comprehensive bid proposals.
Cross-Functional Synergy:
Collaborate with Business Development and Operations to align preconstruction efforts with firm-wide growth goals.
Key Stakeholder Management:
Serve as the lead consultant for clients, building the foundational trust required for long-term partnerships.
Risk Governance:
Proactively identify project vulnerabilities and manage contract, insurance, and bonding compliance.
Competitive Strategy:
Orchestrate winning bid strategies and deliver high-impact presentations to secure new contracts.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in large-scale commercial/industrial projects, specifically as part of an electrical contractor.
A natural leader who has successfully managed teams and complex bid strategies.
Experienced with Accubid (or similar) and a deep understanding of modern electrical codes.
Degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred; CPE or PMP certifications are a major plus.
