Leasing and Compliance Specialist (Affordable Housing)

As an Affordable Leasing and Compliance Specialist at Riverwalk Park, you’ll be at the center of creating access to high-quality housing—ensuring every application, certification, and approval is handled with accuracy, integrity, and a deep understanding of regulatory standards.

Working alongside experienced leadership, you’ll navigate the complexities of affordable housing programs while directly impacting individuals and families seeking a place to call home. Conduct eligibility appointments and process applications for affordable or middle-income housing programs.

Perform proper calculation of income and assets for all certifications.

Follow up with applicants to obtain required paperwork.

Request third‑party verifications, reviewing applicant‑provided information for accuracy and completeness.

Run credit and/or criminal background checks.

Synthesize and review information/documentation, determining applicant eligibility as per program guidelines and project criteria.

Compile documents for internal and external assessment.

Assist in marketing/re‑marketing activities and housing lotteries.

Perform unit showings, lease signings, and subsidy processing.

Generate initial and renewal leases.

Complete annual recertification for the LIHTC program.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1‑2 years of experience in LIHTC and/or Section 8 multi‑family leasing.

Hold an accredited housing certification (Low Income Housing Tax Credit Specialist and/or Certified Occupancy Specialist) or the ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.

Experience working with New York City regulatory agencies (NYC HDC, NYC HPD, NYS HCR/HFA).

Experience with Yardi.

Knowledge of NYC rent stabilization.

Detail oriented and organized.

Strong communication and analytical skills.

Initiative to work both independently and within a team while performing in a busy, changing, multi‑tasking work environment.

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Bi‑lingual is a plus but not mandatory.

Hold NYS Notary License or the ability to obtain license within one year of employment.

Compensation $60,000 - 78,000 per year
