Extensive experience with research grants; research career programs; instructional projects; public service projects; minority and disadvantaged programs; economic development projects; partnerships; and cooperative agreement projects, including educational and health professions grants is essential. No Primary Purpose of Organization Unit: The Office of Sponsored Research and Programs provides leadership, oversight, and support for externally funded research, scholarly activity, and institutional grant programs. OSRP facilitates development, submission, negotiation, and management of grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements; ensures compliance with federal, state, and sponsor regulations; and supports faculty and staff in securing external funding that advances the research, service, and academic mission of the university. Primary Purpose of Position

The Director of Sponsored Research provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Office of Sponsored Research and Programs. The position is responsible for guiding the development, submission, and management of grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements; ensuring institutional compliance with all applicable federal, state, and sponsor regulations; and supporting faculty and staff in pursuing external funding opportunities. The Director serves as the university’s primary resource and subject‑matter expert for sponsored program administration, collaborates with academic and administrative units to advance research activity, and oversees all OSRP processes, staff, and reporting to ensure effective and efficient operation of the office. Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Sponsored Programs, the Director of Sponsored Research supervises the operations of the OSRP. The director provides leadership for the university in grants and sponsored programs and is responsible for developing strategies to enhance sponsored research programs; guiding the process of developing and managing grants, contracts and cooperative agreements; providing assistance in university‑wide planning; and developing working linkages with a range of entities for collaborative efforts in research. The Director works as a team member with the university, regularly consulting with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Sponsored Programs and other senior university officials. The Director supervises the execution of all grants, contracts and cooperative agreement programs. Service on appropriate university councils and committees is required. Strong writing, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills must be utilized to assist faculty, staff and other administrators to achieved funding for grants, contracts and cooperative agreements that serve to extend the research, service and scholarship mission of the university. Oversight and management of the staff and processes of the OSRP of the institution will include: data collection; secure maintenance of records; timely collection, production and submission of necessary reports; and other associated duties.
