Digital News Specialist - Lotus Media Group
Overview:
The Digital News Specialist is responsible for producing in-depth, high-quality journalism for the
platform across both written and multimedia formats. This role will focus on covering important
community stories while creating video and audio content to enhance reporting and audience
engagement. On camera communication will be a cornerstone of this position.
Responsibilities:
- Research, report, and write news stories with depth, accuracy, and clarity
- Conduct interviews and develop sources within the community
- Produce long-form and short-form journalism on local issues, trends, and developments
- Create video content to accompany written stories with video production staff
- Record voiceovers and participate in on-camera reporting as needed
- Present information clearly for both digital and broadcast audiences
- Balance a mix of short-term assignments and longer investigative or feature projects
- Maintain consistent publishing schedules and meet deadlines
- Assist in cross-platform storytelling between web, video, and radio formats
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the platform’s editorial goals
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong writing, research, and storytelling skills
- Excellent public speaking and on-camera presence
- Ability to explain complex topics in a clear and engaging way
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in journalism, reporting, or a related field
- Experience with video reporting, on-camera work, or multimedia storytelling
- Experience conducting interviews and developing sources
- Familiarity with digital publishing platforms
- Experience working on both short-form news and long-form reporting
