Hybrid - New York, New York The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team, part of the broader Strategy & Finance function, is responsible for engaging business leaders to drive short- and long-term budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Reporting to the VP of Strategic Finance, the Director, FP&A will own the FP&A function end-to-end, with a primary focus on designing and scaling processes, implementing modern planning tools (such as Anaplan), and building a high-performing team that operates with public-company rigor in a PE-backed private-company environment. You will be accountable for our company-wide planning cadence, forecasting methodologies, and management reporting framework, ensuring they are robust enough to support a complex financial services business that is "public ready." You will partner closely with senior executives across the organization to drive operating leverage, optimize unit economics, and proactively identify financial and operational risks and opportunities. The ideal candidate brings financial services experience and has helped build or transform FP&A at a high-growth and/or public company, including exposure to public-companystyle processes, controls, and reporting expectations. What You Will Do:
Lead, mentor, and develop a small but impactful FP&A team, providing consistent feedback, career development guidance, and performance management Define and communicate the vision, mandate, and operating model for FP&A in a "public ready" environment, including how the team partners with Strategy, Accounting, Treasury, and business leaders Set and enforce high standards for analytical rigor, data integrity, timeliness, and clarity across all FP&A outputs Promote a culture of accountability, creative problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration within the Strategic Finance team Inspire and create a motivating environment through coaching, mentoring, and enablement Provide opportunities to participate in both formal and informal developmental activities Working with senior leaders and department head, set expectations for all team members and hold employees accountable for results Lead hiring, performance management, compensation, and evaluation of team members Collaborate with Kapitus leadership and HR to continually refine and modify career growth and succession plans to meet changing business needs Own the end-to-end financial planning calendar, including the annual operating plan (AOP), long-range plan (LRP), quarterly reforecasts, and monthly outlooks Design and implement scalable, repeatable FP&A processes that mirror public-company discipline (e.g., structured monthly close and reporting cycles, standardized packages, clear calendar and expectations) Lead the evaluation, selection, implementation, and ongoing governance of planning and reporting tools, with a particular emphasis on Anaplan or similar enterprise planning platforms Additionally, lead the evaluation of ways to integrate AI tools to augment variance analyses, commentary generation, and set reporting Standardize KPIs, dashboards, and reporting packages used across the business, ensuring consistency between internal management reporting and external-facing metrics (where applicable) Build and refine forecasting methodologies (e.g., driver-based, cohort, portfolio/credit, and revenue models) appropriate for a high-growth financial services company Oversee company-wide budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure they are accurate, timely, and aligned with strategic and financial objectives Develop and continuously improve executive-ready reporting for senior leadership and the Board, including monthly and quarterly business reviews and deep dives Lead the creation of robust scenario analysis and sensitivity models to support strategic decisions (e.g., growth investments, pricing changes, risk appetite, capital allocation, and funding strategies) Translate company-level goals into detailed financial targets and KPIs by business unit, product, and function, and ensure clear accountability for performance against plan Support audit, due diligence, and external stakeholder requests (e.g., lenders, rating agencies, or potential investors) with the level of quality and control expected of a public company, while the company remains private Design and maintain planning and reporting that capture the nuances of financial services products, including revenue recognition, loss/credit dynamics, funding costs, liquidity, and capital efficiency Drive continuous improvement in unit economics and operating leverage, identifying and executing on levers for margin expansion and expense optimization Contribute to strategic initiatives including new product launches, geographic or segment expansion, and potential M&A or strategic partnerships, by owning the financial modeling and performance outlooks Additional responsibilities as requested by management. What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's Degree required; MBA or advanced finance certification (e.g., CFA or FPAC) preferred 810+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, and/or management consulting, with a substantial portion in financial services (required) Demonstrated experience building, scaling, or transforming FP&A capabilities at a high-growth and/or public company, ideally including: Ownership of budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting processes Exposure to public-companystyle controls, calendar discipline, and Board/Executive reporting Proven track record of owning and improving core FP&A processes in a way that makes a private company effectively "public ready" (e.g., governance, documentation, auditability, repeatability) Hands-on experience implementing and/or administering modern planning tools, preferably Anaplan, including model design and integration with ERP/GL and data platforms Demonstrated experience leveraging AI and machine learning tools to enhance FP&A capabilities, including but not limited to forecasting accuracy, anomaly detection, scenario modeling, and the automation of routine analytical tasks. A strong desire to continue developing these skills and driving AI adoption across the finance function is required Expert-level financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to both build and review complex models (revenue, expense, cohort, portfolio/credit, and cash flow) Exceptional communication skills and executive presence, with a demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and simplify complex concepts for non-finance audiences Strong leadership skills with a successful track record of building, developing, and retaining high-performing FP&A teams High degree of organization, attention to detail, and ownership in a fast-paced, evolving environment
