Business Process Analyst/Technical Writer
US Tech Solutions, Inc., Birmingham, AL, United States
Duration: 12 months contract Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Business Process Analyst and Technical Writer to support the development, revision, and standardization of TSS documentation in alignment with a new Front End Planning (FEP) Playbook for generation projects. In this role, you will serve as the bridge between operational subject matter experts, project leaders, and governance teams — translating complex workflows and enterprise standards into clear, consistent, and user-friendly procedural documentation. Your deliverables will directly shape how project stakeholders plan, execute, and govern capital generation projects across the organization. Responsibilities: Develop, revise, and standardize TSS procedures, policies, and guidelines to align with the Front End Planning Playbook and enterprise governance model for generation projects. Conduct structured interviews and workshops with SMEs, project managers, and leadership to capture current-state processes and identify documentation gaps. Produce high-quality process maps, swim lane diagrams, and RACI matrices that clearly define roles, decision checkpoints, and handoffs across the project lifecycle. Design and update templates, forms, and checklists (e.g., project charters, gate-readiness assessments, risk registers) to ensure usability and compliance with governance requirements. Manage structured document review cycles — tracking feedback, consolidating SME input, resolving conflicting commentary, and facilitating approval sign-off from leadership. Maintain rigorous document-control practices including version management, change logs, approval routing, and publication to appropriate platforms. Collaborate cross-functionally with project controls, engineering, operations, and PMO teams to ensure documentation reflects actual workflows and organizational standards. Support onboarding of project teams to new or revised procedures through training materials, quick-reference guides, and facilitated walkthroughs. Continuously assess documentation for clarity, consistency, and user-friendliness — incorporating feedback from end users and aligning with evolving playbook requirements. Experience: 10 or more years of experience writing procedures, policies, or technical guidance in a regulated or capital-intensive industry (energy, utilities, infrastructure, or equivalent). Proven track record developing, revising, and standardizing procedural documentation within complex, multi-stakeholder organizations. Demonstrated expertise aligning documentation to enterprise governance frameworks, stage-gate models, or structured project lifecycle processes. Direct experience with Front-End Planning (FEP), project controls, or capital project governance frameworks. Proficiency creating process maps including swim lane diagrams and RACI matrices using tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or equivalent. Strong command of document-control standards including version control, approval routing, and publication workflows. Demonstrated ability to manage structured SME and leadership review cycles, resolve conflicting input, and drive timely approvals.
