The Senior Interior Designer is responsible for project design quality—including FF&E and interior architecture—across Workplace / Corporate Interiors, K‑12, and Hospitality projects. They lead teams to conceptualize the project, develop the initial design direction, oversee documentation, and make critical aesthetic decisions while integrating client and operator input. Primary Responsibilities
Lead/assist the project team in developing aesthetic design and preparing interior design drawings, specifications, and presentations. Serve as Project Designer for design of the project. Develop space plans per client programmatic requirements. Present ideas clearly to stakeholders. Detail interior architectural drawings competently. Execute design concept through all phases—pre‑schematic, schematic, design development, construction documents, and FB&E specification/bid packages. Create rendered plans, elevations, and 3‑D views for presentations. Participate in client meetings, interviews, visioning sessions, and presentations. Follow established standards for production and review. Keep Studio Leaders, Principal, and Project Manager informed of progress or needs. Mentor junior staff in design and documentation of interior workplace design. Prepare program and schematic proposals, layouts, and 3‑D designs using Revit or other 3‑D modeling software for client approval. Prepare finish and FF&E material palettes and graphic presentations for client approval. Ensure deliverables meet Perkins Eastman design quality standards. Support business development within the corporate real estate community, cultivating relationships and promoting the PE brand. Lead/assist the team in completing FF&E design and documentation, providing final review of specifications. Coordinate consultants and oversee furniture installation plans for conformance to specifications and brand standards. Review architectural and furniture installation plans, shop drawings for accuracy and coordination with consultant drawings. Ensure all consultant drawings and related physical elements are coordinated with Interior Design and FF&E and applicable building codes. Attend and/or direct on‑site meetings with owner, consultants, and contractor, inclusive of construction review and FF&E installation. Participate in construction administration activities—shop drawings, field observations, responses to RFIs, punch list. Implement and manage PR document standards to ensure project delivery success. Assist studios and leaders with generating Design Services Proposals. Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ensure deliverables, deadlines, and budgets are met. Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree from a 4‑year CIDA‑accredited Interior Design program or equivalent. Minimum 10–12 years of related industry experience. NCIDQ certification desired; candidates willing to obtain within 6 months preferred. CPHD, LEED, and/or WELL accreditation a plus or willingness to obtain within 12 months. Core Expertise
Experience in Workplace / Corporate Interiors. Experience in K‑12 and Hospitality projects a plus. Passion for and understanding of sustainable design. Working knowledge of Brand Standards and ability to execute them. Thorough understanding of architectural interior design and building/ADA codes. Ability to produce a complete set of construction documents for permit and bid. Knowledge of building and ADA codes. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Technical Proficiency
Strong proficiency with design software: Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, Affinity/Adobe Suite, MS Office, and 3‑D software such as Enscape. Soft Skills
Excellent organization, time management, and problem‑solving skills. Independent and collaborative teamwork. Detail‑oriented and multitasking ability. Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and graphic communication. Excellent graphic presentation skills. Self‑starter, passionate about design. Mentor team members and support growth through knowledge sharing. Additional Experience (Preferred)
Design team leadership. Writing FF&E specifications and budgeting. Developing design narratives and FF&E schemes. Space planning; hand drafting ability a plus. Thinking and articulating interior architectural design in 3‑D.
