Job Description
Job Summary The Vice President Hotel Finance (VPF) will partner with leaders in Hotel Finance, Operations, and other departments, to drive divisional achievement of financial performance goals and objectives. The VPF will partner closely with the divisional President and Senior Vice Presidents of Operations to provide financial guidance on divisional performance and business decisions, coordinate with Operations on actions plans driven from financial insights, owner relations, and broadly assist Hotel Finance and Operations leadership in the attainment of divisional objectives, effectiveness and compliance of policies and procedures, organizational structure, and new initiatives. The role will also serve as the divisional liaison to all auxiliary departments in Accounting, Finance, Tax and Treasury for better support to the division and its team of leaders.
The Vice President Hotel Finance will be responsible for leading a team of Regional Vice Presidents of Hotel Finance (RVPF) responsible for overseeing the hotels’ Directors of Finance (or the financial-management activities of other designated associates at hotels without DOFs) and supporting Operations leaders in proactively analyzing and driving financial performance and outlier management, short- and long-term financial planning, coordinating and administering all financial policies and procedures, and other tasks to increase efficiencies in the organization and to transform processes that improve business performance measurement and metrics. Through their team, the VPF will help the division drive profitability.
The Vice President Hotel Finance will report to the Vice President of Strategic Finance while partnering closely with the divisional President and Senior Vice Presidents of Operations.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required
Experience: Ten or more years of employment in a related position within Aimbridge Hospitality or other hospitality management organization(s)
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated experience leading a team towards achieving shared goals and organizational objectives through effective communication, motivation, and strategic direction
Demonstrated experience providing resources, guidance, and support to ensure every team member is empowered to perform at their highest level
Advanced knowledge of finance, accounting, and hospitality industry
Working knowledge of major hotel operational concepts, and the skill to integrate those concepts into a financial perspective, and communicate that information to a diverse audience of management and ownership
Experience working in a hotel or corporate environment with layers of accountability and oversight
Ability to work with large data sets, analyze financial performance, and create concise and actionable reports for department leaders to make data-driven decisions
Strong proficiency in financial software and tools, including Microsoft Excel (advanced), and financial reporting systems
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex operational and finance topics to property and above property leaders in a clear and concise manner
High attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment
Ability to work cross functionally, influence others, and foster excellent professional relationships
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Core Responsibilities of VPF
Partner closely with the divisional President and Senior Vice Presidents of Operations to provide financial guidance on divisional performance and business decisions, coordinate with Operations on actions plans driven from financial insights, owner relations, and broadly assist Hotel Finance and Operations leadership in the attainment of divisional objectives, effectiveness and compliance of policies and procedures, organizational structure, and new initiatives.
Lead a team of Regional Vice Presidents of Hotel Finance (RVPF) responsible for overseeing the hotels’ Directors of Finance (or the financial-management activities of other designated associates at hotels without DOFs) and supporting Operations leaders in proactively analyzing and driving financial performance and outlier management, short- and long-term financial planning, coordinating and administering all financial policies and procedures, and other tasks to increase efficiencies in the organization and to transform processes that improve business performance measurement and metrics
Shared Responsibilities of Hotel Finance Department (led by the Vice President Hotel Finance)
Establish, coordinate and administer an adequate plan for the control of operations for a region of hotels. This plan would provide; profit planning, revenue and expense projections (in the form of budgets, forecasts and other projections), capital requirements, cost control standards, and the necessary procedures for affecting the plan
Prepare financial analyses and other reports as needed for leaders, operators, and ownership, to compare performance with operating plans and standards, and interpret / report the results of operations to all levels of management and ownership. Ensure that timely information is provided in order to maximize profits.
Partner with Hotel Accounting and Operational leadership to ensure all hotels’ compliance with Hotel Finance Standard Operating Procedures, accounting policies, legal requirements, and contractual obligations (including those stipulated in the management agreements) through the effective utilization of internal controls, auditing and security procedures
Support Directors and Area Directors of Finance in a manner conducive to the attraction, retention and motivation of team members. Support property-level leaders, cross functional departments, and owners in the hiring, training, and development of these leaders. Provide open communication vehicles to these leaders and serve as a key strategic partner in their success
Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned
