Intellectual Property (IP) Patent Docketing Specialist
Full-Time | Onsite (Legal / Intellectual Property Department)
We are seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Patent Docketing Specialist to support a fast‑paced Intellectual Property practice. This role requires accuracy, organization, and the ability to manage a high volume of time‑sensitive deadlines related to U.S. and international patent filings.
Responsibilities
Review, docket, and distribute a high volume of incoming correspondence from the USPTO, WIPO, and foreign associates
Update docket based on USPTO filing receipts, WIPO confirmations, and correspondence from foreign counsel
Monitor daily docket deadlines and ensure all due dates are met
Process docket updates based on attorney and paralegal instructions
Perform monthly status reviews of pending U.S. patent applications
Manage incoming and outgoing transferred files
Generate docket reports and respond to internal requests for status updates
Save and organize correspondence within the electronic document management system
Required Skills & Experience
Working knowledge of U.S. and international patent and/or trademark prosecution processes
Ability to interpret and follow rules, procedures, and filing requirements
Strong attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills
Highly organized, with the ability to manage deadlines and maintain accuracy under pressure
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
6+ years of intellectual property experience in a law firm or legal services setting
Prior IP docketing experience required; patent docketing strongly preferred
Experience with IP docketing software (FIP highly preferred)
Preferred
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
