Associate Director (IT Project and Construction Management)

Job Summary Associate Director (IT Project and Construction Management) for the Office of Information Technology (OIT).

Responsibilities

Play a pivotal role in planning and overseeing IT initiatives, leading implementation of technical solutions.

Align OIT with university stakeholders in design and execution of infrastructure projects across New Brunswick/Piscataway, Newark, and Camden campuses.

Act as primary liaison, bridging client needs with effective technical solutions, fostering collaboration and ensuring successful project delivery.

Provide financial oversight of all projects, applying industry best practices to deliver cost-effective, value‑driven outcomes.

EI Project Management Leadership

– provide leadership to project managers in design, implementation, and continuous improvement across the project lifecycle.

Implement process improvement initiatives that enhance productivity and stakeholder satisfaction.

Collaborate with partners and stakeholders via communication, outreach, and establishment of steering/governance processes.

Provide work direction, consultation, and mentoring to staff.

Telecom Construction Management Leadership

– lead the telecommunications construction management team for integrated technical solutions.

Facilitate and collaborate with construction teams on requirements definition, design specifications, and implementation activities.

Review technical solutions to ensure clarity and alignment with business needs.

Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in telecommunications.

Project Management of Complex Projects

– manage complex and large capital projects; act as primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and partners throughout the lifecycle.

Partner with clients to define functional requirements and with IT staff to define technical requirements, solutions and implementation.

Financial and Resource Management

– oversee project and operating budgets, including tracking, reconciliation, and reporting.

Ensure resource allocation meets operational and strategic needs.

Staff Development

– responsible for recruitment, selection, evaluation, promotion/reclassifications, and staff development.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in information technology, technical project management, or related field (experience may substitute).

At least 8 years in IT project management and IT solution implementation.

Experiential knowledge and achievement in telecommunications technologies.

Knowledge of IT project management methods and procedures.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to engage university leaders, stakeholders, and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in higher education environment.

In-depth knowledge and experience in telecommunications technology and industry standards.
