Position Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Associate Director (IT Project and Construction Management) for the Office of Information Technology (OIT).

Responsibilities

Plays a pivotal role in planning and overseeing IT initiatives, while leading the implementation of technical solutions.

Works with alignment between the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and University stakeholders in the design and execution of infrastructure projects across the New Brunswick/Piscataway, Newark, and Camden campuses.

Acts as the primary liaison, and bridges client needs effective technical solutions, fostering collaboration and ensuring successful project delivery.

Responsible for the financial oversight of all projects, applying industry best practices in project management and system implementation to deliver cost-effective, value-driven outcomes.

EI Project Management Leadership

– provide leadership to the project managers in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement for the full project lifecycle.

Implement process improvement initiatives that can lead to enhanced productivity and stakeholder satisfaction.

Collaborate with other partners and stakeholders within the university through communication/outreach and the establishment of project steering and governance processes.

Provide work direction, consultation, and mentoring to staff members.

Telecom Construction Management Leadership

– Lead the telecommunications construction management team for the implementation of integrated technical solutions.

Facilitate and collaborate with the construction management team for definition of requirements, design specifications, and implementation activities.

Review technical solutions, ensuring clarity and alignment with business needs.

Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in telecommunications to inform and enhance solution delivery.

Project Management of Complex Projects

– Provide project management for complex and large capital projects.

Act as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and other partners during project lifecycle.

Partner with clients in functional requirements definition and departmental IT staff in technical requirements definition, solutions and implementation.

Financial and Resource Management

– Oversee project and operating budget finances, including review of budget tracking, reconciliation, and financial reporting.

Ensure allocation of resources to meet both operational and strategic needs.

Staff Developmen t

– Responsible for personnel recruitment, selection, evaluation, promotion/reclassifications, and staff development.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in information technology, technical project management, or a related field of study (experience may be substituted for the degree requirements).

At least 8 years in IT project management and IT solution implementation.
