The Data Center Colocation and Migration Project
Responsibilities
Configure existing databases on SQL Server 2016/2019 to read-only mode to ensure data integrity during transition.
Perform full database backups on SQL Server 2016/2019.
Restore databases to the new SQL Server 2022 environment.
Bring SQL Server 2022 databases online and decommission legacy instances by setting prior versions offline.
Establish user accounts, permissions, jobs, and SSIS packages within SQL Server 2022.
Migrate reports and subscriptions from SSRS 2016 to SSRS 2022.
Engage report owners to reconfigure data source connections to align with the upgraded platform.
Coordinate with database owners to update existing jobs and packages to SQL Server 2022 compatibility.
Create and validate linked servers to ensure cross-platform functionality.
Facilitate comprehensive testing and verification by database owners to confirm operational readiness.
Required Skills
4 years’ experience in migrating to large complex databases and applications along with associated logins, jobs, SSIS packages, linked servers.
4 years’ experience with designing and installing clustering with Always ON High availability.
4 years’ experience regarding project status, meetings, reporting requirements, scope changes.
4 years’ experience with providing Hyper Care support post migration of databases and applications, user support and.
2 years’ experience with Redgate monitoring Software to fine-tune SQL Server database performance, creating indexes, optimizing response time, calculating IOPS and tuning SAN performance.
4 years’ experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS): Skills in creating, deploying, and managing reports using SSRS or other reporting tools like Power BI.
4 years’ experience with Data Analysis & Warehousing: Skills in data analysis, data warehousing concepts (e.g., star and snowflake schemas), and data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
