Responsibilities

Investigate and conciliate complaints of discrimination primarily in employment and public accommodations alleged to have occurred because of a protected class.

Assess jurisdiction and draft investigative complaints.

Conduct an initial contact call with parties to confirm receipt of service documents and confirm the date of the Fact Finding Conference.

Perform thorough interviews with the parties to discuss allegations, explore settlement possibilities, and answer questions about Commission procedures.

Serve as the facilitator of the settlement process by communicating settlement proposals.

Assist the legal department with further processing of cases approved for public hearings.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

Full‑time employment.

Work hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.

Telework: up to three days per week from a home location in Pennsylvania with a securely configured high‑speed internet connection. Telework is subject to change at any time.

Some positions may have a non‑negotiable starting salary.

Qualifications

One year as a Human Relations Representative Trainee (Commonwealth or equivalent federal job title).

One year of professional administrative investigative, criminal investigative, regulatory investigative, civil rights, or human rights experience involving evidence gathering, interviewing, and investigative reporting; plus a bachelor’s degree that includes 12 credits in human resources, labor management relations, civil rights, social work, social justice, public policy, public administration, or a related field.

or an equivalent combination of training and experience that includes 12 college credits in the related fields.

Other Requirements

Must meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement.

Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements

Conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports.

Must pass a background investigation.
