Director of Data & Analytics

hireneXus, Chicago, IL, United States

Director of Data Strategy - Strategic Analytics Location: Remote (U.S.) with ~25% travel

About the Company Our client is a leading, private equity–backed manufacturing platform serving consumer-facing end markets. The business operates across a highly fragmented industry and has grown rapidly through an aggressive acquisition strategy, completing more than 20 acquisitions in recent years.

With a national footprint of nearly 30 facilities, the company is now entering its next phase—focused on operational integration, standardization, and building the infrastructure needed to scale effectively. A key priority is creating a unified data environment to support better decision‑making, improve performance visibility, and enable future advanced analytics capabilities.

The Opportunity This is a highly visible, foundational role reporting to the CIO and sitting at the center of the company’s transformation agenda.

As Director of Data & Analytics, you will define and implement the enterprise data strategy—establishing KPI standards, governance frameworks, and a unified data operating model across the organization. You will act as the bridge between business leaders, IT, and external partners, ensuring data is accurate, consistent, and directly tied to operational decision‑making.

This is not a traditional IT or data engineering role. The company is seeking a business‑first operator—someone who uses data to drive real‑world outcomes, not just build infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings a consulting‑style mindset and is comfortable translating ambiguous business problems into structured, data‑driven actions across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Shape enterprise data strategy by developing and executing a comprehensive roadmap to unify data across systems, plants, and functions.

Standardize KPIs and metrics by creating a company‑wide framework aligned with business performance and decision‑making.

Establish data governance by defining ownership, data contracts, and governance processes to improve data quality and accountability.

Improve data quality at the source by partnering with operations and finance teams to resolve root‑cause issues within ERP and plant systems.

Lead post‑acquisition data integration by building scalable and repeatable processes to onboard acquired businesses into a standardized data model.

Translate insights into impact by working closely with business leaders to drive operational improvements across plants.

Oversee external partners, including data platform vendors and offshore teams, ensuring outputs align with business needs.

Enable scalable decision‑making by building a strong foundation for consistent reporting, performance tracking, and future AI capabilities.

What We’re Looking For

8–12+ years of experience in data, analytics, or strategy roles with a strong operational focus.

Background in top‑tier strategy consulting or similar environments where data is used to drive business decisions and execution.

Proven ability to translate data into measurable operational improvements, beyond reporting and dashboards.

Experience in manufacturing, multi‑site operations, or acquisition‑driven environments is strongly preferred.

Strong cross‑functional leadership across operations, finance, commercial, and IT teams.

Ability to operate effectively in fast‑paced and ambiguous environments while bringing structure to fragmented systems.

Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence both plant leadership and executive teams.

Why This Role

Opportunity to build and own the data foundation for a rapidly scaling, acquisition‑driven platform.

High visibility with executive leadership and direct impact on company‑wide performance.

A dynamic role at the intersection of strategy, operations, and data.

Ability to drive tangible operational outcomes, not just analytics outputs.
