Job Overview The Assistant Director assists the Director and Deputy Director of the Office of Event Management & Scheduling with high‑profile, Capitol Campus leadership‑level events, including large, multi‑pronged events such as Orientation, Campus Reunion, professorship installation, annual Capitol Campus leadership lectures, Commencement and other similar events.

Responsibilities The position reports directly to the Director, Office of Event Management, and works closely with Event Coordinators, the Deputy Director, and all members of the events and scheduling teams. It regularly engages with internal constituents (faculty members, facilities, AV, public safety, catering, faculty support, Capitol Campus leadership and other staff) and serves as the point of contact for outside organizations, board members, alumni and main campus colleagues.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5‑7 years of event planning experience, preferably in an academic or non‑profit setting, with increasing responsibility for larger and more complex events.

Proven ability to balance multiple priorities and work independently.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to prioritize competing demands.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Working knowledge of Social Tables, EMS, and other event‑specific software is a plus.

Bachelor’s degree required.

Work Mode Designation Hybrid

Pay Range $47,586.00 – $87,558.13
