Job Overview The Assistant Director assists the Director and Deputy Director of the Office of Event Management & Scheduling with high‑profile, Capitol Campus leadership‑level events, including large, multi‑pronged events such as Orientation, Campus Reunion, professorship installation, annual Capitol Campus leadership’s lectures, Commencement and other similar events.

Work Interactions This position reports directly to the Director, Office of Event Management, but works closely with the Event Coordinators and the Deputy Director, and interacts regularly with all members of the events and scheduling teams. This position also regularly engages with many internal constituents, including faculty members, facilities, AV, public safety, catering, faculty support, the Capitol Campus leadership and other Capitol Campus staff. The position is also regularly the point of contact for outside organizations, board members, alumni and main campus colleagues.

Requirements and Qualifications

Must have a minimum of 5–7 years event planning experience, preferably within an academic or non‑profit setting, and with increasingly more responsibility and larger and more complex events

Proven ability to balance multiple priorities and work independently is required

Candidate will also possess strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement, and have the ability to be discreet and prioritize competing demands

Strong computer skills are required, including Microsoft Office

Working knowledge of Social Tables, EMS and other event‑specific software is a plus.

Bachelor’s degree required.

Pay Range The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $47,586.00 – $87,558.13
