Position Highlights The OLLI Program Director provides coordination and implements strategies and operational oversight to ensure effective administration for the non-credit programs of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. The position plans, implements, and evaluates non-credit educational programming tailored to older adult learners and collaborates with internal departments, external partners, and volunteer leadership to grow the program, enhance service delivery, and ensure long‑term sustainability. Responsibilities include improving administrative processes, optimizing technology platforms, supporting governance structures, and aligning the Institute’s work with the university’s outreach mission.

This position allows flexible/hybrid work arrangements. Some duties can be performed remotely, but others require an in‑person presence on the Tucson, Arizona campus.

Duties & Responsibilities

Coordinate, lead, and implement academic strategies and operational data oversight for the OLLI non‑credit programs.

Identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions to streamline academic workflows.

Lead operational planning and process optimization.

Analyze, plan, implement, and evaluate non‑credit educational programming in accordance with university, state, and federal policies and regulations.

Advise faculty, staff, and leadership on interpretation and application of academic policy and procedural compliance.

Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in academic programs and services.

Use lifelong learning and university‑level non‑credit programming experience to grow the academic program and increase adult learning enrollment.

Support institutional alignment and agreement development.

Contribute to the review and revision of OLLI’s Affinity Agreement.

Coordinate with university leadership to maintain compliance and clarity in external partnerships.

Review and analyze data reports and share with OLLI Board and AZ Online leadership.

Develop and oversee implementation of technical systems.

Identify functional and user‑facing technology needs related to registration, member services, reporting, and e‑commerce.

Partner with UITS and external providers to implement systems that improve efficiency.

Assess staffing needs and guide organizational planning.

Evaluate current and projected staffing requirements in relation to operational needs and system upgrades.

Establish clearly defined roles and responsibilities and eliminate workflow redundancies.

Lead efforts to design and implement staffing models that support short‑term functionality and long‑term sustainability.

Collaborate with the OLLI Board and volunteer leadership.

Serve as the primary liaison to the OLLI Board and committees.

Facilitate collaborative governance practices, provide strategic input, and support planning and implementation of initiatives that advance OLLI’s mission and growth.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of organizational design and cross‑functional team leadership.

Strong understanding of technology systems for program operations (CRM, e‑commerce, learning management, or similar).

Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Advanced interpersonal and communication skills.

Strong commitment to customer‑centered service delivery.

Diplomacy, flexibility, and comfort working with shared governance.

Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
