The Assistant Director for Law Library Services for the Salmon P. Chase Law Library is a full‑time, tenure‑track library faculty position, with full benefits. The Assistant Director position involves both library and teaching responsibilities with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as liaison with Lexis and Westlaw representatives.
Work with IT personnel on pertinent issues.
Assist faculty with online learning platforms including Canvas and TWEN.
Assist faculty with online dissemination of scholarly publications including via SSRN.
Teach Legal Research (a 2‑credit graded course).
Provide reference services to Chase students and faculty, NKU students and faculty, and public patrons.
Do occasional cataloging and maintain collection statistics; serve as a liaison with the main library on online catalog issues.
Manage the library’s online archive of Kentucky appellate briefs.
Serve on law school committees as assigned by the Dean of the College of Law.
Represent the Library and/or College of Law in the greater university and in the profession as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean for Law Library Services.
Qualifications
Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school
(required) .
Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution
(strongly preferred) .
Strong academic record.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively.
Legal reference experience and familiarity with the LibGuides platform are preferred.
Any candidate who is offered this position is required to undergo a pre‑employment criminal background check as mandated by state law.
