Senior Director of Revenue & Accounting – State of South Carolina
Job Responsibilities The Senior Director of Revenue and Accounting provides strategic leadership and hands‑on operational oversight of the university’s core financial functions, including Accounting and Controls, Business Office, Student Accounts, and Sponsored Programs. This role is critical to ensuring institutional compliance with federal and state regulations, maintaining audit readiness, and developing and enforcing robust financial policies and procedures. The Senior Director safeguards institutional assets, maintains compliance, enhances financial integrity, and supports executive decision‑making.
Minimum Requirements
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, accounting, or audit, preferably within higher education or a similarly regulated environment with accreditation standards (SACSCOC).
Experience managing federal grants and compliance with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), GAAP, GASB, SEFA preparation, financial statement preparation, and Single Audit coordination.
A valid driver’s license and safe driving history.
Strong customer‑service skills and a demonstrated commitment to ethics.
Additional Requirements
Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and federal/state compliance frameworks for higher education, including the Single Audit process and SEFA preparation.
Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Banner Finance), reporting tools (e.g., Informer), cash collection, and electronic storefront solutions (e.g., TouchNet).
Ability to assess and redesign business processes for efficiency and compliance.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with hands‑on experience in accounting operations, bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, and cash‑control policies.
Ability to develop, implement, and enforce financial policies and procedures.
