Insurance Customer Communications Specialist
Pay Rate: $52-$55/hour, depending on experience
Employment Type: Contract

Beacon Hill's client is seeking an experienced Insurance Customer Communications Specialist to lead the development of clear, engaging, and customer-focused messaging across all customer touchpoints. This role is responsible for delivering timely, accurate, and transparent communications that enhance the policyholder experience and build trust in a regulated insurance environment.
This opportunity is best suited for a senior-level communications professional with 10+ years of experience, ideally within the insurance industry, who has owned complex customer lifecycle and incident communications.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute comprehensive customer communication strategies aligned with business goals and customer experience priorities
Write and manage customer-facing content across multiple channels, including email, SMS, website content, app notifications, FAQs, and support materials
Partner cross-functionally with product, marketing, customer support, legal, and operations teams to translate complex insurance and regulatory information into clear, customer-friendly messaging
Own customer lifecycle communications, including onboarding, policy changes, renewals, and issue resolution
Lead and manage communications during service disruptions, incidents, or major updates with clarity, accuracy, and transparency
Ensure consistent tone, voice, and brand standards across all customer-facing communications
Review, edit, and optimize existing communications to improve clarity, engagement, and effectiveness
Use customer feedback and performance data to continuously refine communication strategies
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
10+ years of experience in customer communications, corporate communications, content strategy, or related roles
Extensive experience simplifying complex, regulated, or technical information for customer audiences
Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a strong customer-first mindset
Proven ability to operate independently and lead communications initiatives end-to-end
Strong organizational skills and comfort working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments
Preferred Qualifications
Prior insurance industry experience strongly preferred
Experience in other regulated industries such as financial services or healthcare
Familiarity with CRM and customer communication platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, Braze, Zendesk, etc.)
Experience with incident, crisis, or high-visibility customer communications
Understanding of accessibility and inclusive communication best practices

Reduced customer confusion and lower inbound support volume due to improved messaging clarity
Strong engagement and satisfaction metrics across customer communication channels
