
Light-Gauge Steel Wall Panel Designer

Industry leading cold-formed steel wall panel manufacturer and installer is looking for a wall panel designer / detailer. A structural framing background in light gauge steel, structural steel, and/or wood framing is preferred. Experience with panel and/or framing design software such as Strucsoft, Vertex, or MiTek Saphire software will be strongly considered, and experience in AutoCAD and/or Revit is a plus. Our company will train the right candidate. The individual will perform detailed phases of layout and shop drawing preparation for low to mid-rise buildings ranging from 3 – 16 story commercial projects. The ideal candidate should possess a good working knowledge of framing, design, and engineering principles. However, any candidate who understands general building construction and the ability to read construction documents, knowledge of submittal and approval processes, and the capability of planning and conducting tasks requiring independent judgment will be strongly considered. Competitive salary commensurate with experience ($55,000-$85,000) and benefits package provided.
Responsibilities
Utilize wall panel design software and AutoCAD for designing cold formed steel wall panels and structural steel components including submittal, fabrication and installation drawings.
Coordinate any ongoing project revisions and addenda as required.
Discern when more information is required to complete design and compile questions such as R.F.I.’s to resolve.
Download, review, and incorporate construction documents using AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Adobe/Bluebeam software.
Regularly meet with team, client and other trades for BIM coordination and class detection.
Communicate effectively with team, consultants and vendors.
Skills
Panel design and/or AutoCAD software experience preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe/Bluebeam is preferred.
Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting Architectural and Structural Design Documents strongly considered.
Knowledge of standard construction practices, codes and framing is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Efficient, detail-oriented, dedicated to quality work and able to work within deadlines.
Degree in Architecture or Engineering technology preferred, Building Construction experience and prior experience in wall panel and/or structural steel design will be strongly considered.
