We are working with our client Casco Bay Lines in seeking an

Assistant Director of Marine Operations . This is a key leadership position reporting to the Director of Marine Operations. This role encompasses regulatory compliance management, safety program coordination, training oversight, and operational support. The successful candidate will ensure our operations meet the highest standards while serving the transportation needs of our island communities. Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in marine transportation, business administration, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5-7 years of progressive experience in maritime operations or transportation management Demonstrated expertise in regulatory compliance and agency relations Strong project management and organizational capabilities Proficiency with Microsoft Office and documentation systems Merchant Mariner Credential (active or inactive) preferred Advanced certifications in maritime safety or compliance preferred Experience with passenger vessel or ferry operations preferred Background in government or non-profit sector preferred Ability to work primarily in office in Portland, Maine with some field requirements including vessel inspections, regulatory meetings, and occasional emergency response Benefits of the Job

Support Director of Marine Operations as directed by coordinating and communicating with the U.S. Coast Guard, Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration, OSHA, and state agencies Manage Drug and Alcohol Program in accordance with federal requirements Function as District Security Liaison Officer Coordinate regulatory inspections and maintain thorough and accurate documentation Oversee district-wide training programs including safety, security, forklift certification, and emergency response Assist in incident investigations and analyses to drive continuous improvement Ensure compliance with confined space entry procedures and extreme temperature protocols Maintain collaborative working relationships with Coast Guard and regulatory bodies Coordinate logistics with FedEx, USPS, UPS, and other freight partners Support emergency response coordination and crisis communication Participate in employee selection, evaluation, and supervision Act as the backup for scheduling union marine staff as needed Provide exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders Casco Bay Lines
