Position Summary The Director of Finance is responsible for managing the organization’s financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and sound fiscal management. This role oversees day-to-day accounting functions while supporting leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities Financial Management
Oversee general accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly and year-end close processes.
Maintain financial records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Establish and maintain internal controls to protect organizational assets.
Budgeting & Planning
Develop and manage the annual operating budget.
Monitor actual financial performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
Assist leadership with financial forecasting and planning.
Provide financial insight to support business decisions.
Reporting & Compliance
Prepare and present financial statements and management reports.
Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and internal policies.
Coordinate annual audits and work with external auditors.
Ensure timely filing of required financial reports and tax-related documents.
Leadership & Collaboration
Supervise finance and accounting staff.
Partner with department leaders to support financial accountability.
Communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Participate in leadership discussions and organizational planning.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of accounting or finance experience.
Prior experience managing budgets and financial reporting.
Strong knowledge of accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred
Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
CPA or advanced accounting credentials (preferred, not required).
Work Environment
Primarily office-based.
Occasional extended hours during audits, budget preparation, or month-end close.
