Job Title: Outside Sales
Reports To: Sales Manager. Status: Salaried Exempt.
Objective of Position Responsible for selling projects and materials to both professional contractor customers and retail customers, providing a positive customer experience.
Essential Functions
Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships.
Prospect and develop new business opportunities through various channels.
Generate quotes, invoicing, orders and receiving using company computer system.
Participate in vendor sponsored lunch and learn opportunities.
Travel from site to site; valid driver’s license required.
Answer the phone as instructed and help customers on the phone.
Help customers find the location of products and answer questions on company policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Proven sales experience in the building materials industry or related field.
High school diploma or equivalent; experience preferred but not required.
Problem solver, detail‑oriented, outstanding customer service skills, excellent communication skills, actively looks for ways to help people.
Physical requirements: use a computer workstation, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; may have to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment Generally operates in an inside office environment with occasional outside work. Attend sales or trade meetings, read related publications, compute and compare costs of services, consult with clients after sales or contract signings, contact prospective or existing customers, develop sales presentations, negotiate prices or terms of sales or service agreements, quote prices, credit terms, contract terms, or fulfillment dates.
