Job Overview The Campus and Community Coordinator serves as the central connector between the IPSE program, the university, and the surrounding community by developing and sustaining inclusive partnerships that support student engagement, learning, and career development. This position facilitates meaningful access for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities to campus life, academic enrichment, community-based learning, and employment opportunities, while promoting inclusive practices across campus and among community partners.
Responsibilities
Establish and maintain partnerships with academic departments, student organizations, and campus service offices to facilitate inclusive participation of IPSE students.
Develop and manage relationships with community employers, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and civic agencies to create internships, service‑learning, and employment opportunities.
Serve as the primary liaison between the IPSE program and community stakeholders, representing the program at meetings and events.
Coordinate memoranda of understanding (MOUs) or informal partnership agreements in collaboration with program leadership.
Facilitate student participation in campus activities, organizations, and events that align with individual interests and goals.
Support students in navigating campus and community environments, promoting self‑advocacy and social engagement.
Collaborate with other program staff to align campus and community experiences with students’ individualized learning and transition plans.
Identify and reduce barriers to access and participation in campus and community settings.
Plan and coordinate community‑based learning experiences, internships, volunteer placements, and civic engagement opportunities.
Maintain schedules, participation records, and documentation related to student engagement activities.
Assist with onboarding and orientation of community partners and campus collaborators.
Contribute to program planning meetings and support continuous improvement of engagement strategies.
Communicate clearly and professionally with students, families, faculty, staff, and community partners.
Promote inclusive postsecondary education principles and disability awareness across campus and in the community.
Prepare brief reports or summaries of engagement activities and outcomes for program leadership and funders.
Uphold confidentiality, ethical standards, and inclusive language in all communications.
Qualifications
Ability to initiate, build, and sustain collaborative relationships across campus units and external community partners to support inclusive postsecondary education.
Ability to support meaningful inclusion of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in campus life and community settings using person‑centered and strengths‑based practices.
Ability to organize, coordinate, and implement campus‑ and community‑based activities that support program outcomes in education, employment, and independent living.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and advocate for inclusive practices within higher education and community environments.
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, or related field.
Demonstrated commitment to working and serving students with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
Relevant experience working in engagement, coordination, community partnerships, or student services in higher education or nonprofit/community settings.
Experience working with diverse populations.
Licenses or Certifications None required.
