DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position performs professional work as an administrative and supervisory nature involving the program planning, analysis, coordination, and implementation of Intellectual Disability and Autism Services for Washington County Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (BHDS). Under the direction of the Administrator and Deputy Administrator, incumbents will ensure that Intellectual Disability and Autism Services are made available to the public. This role performs quality assurance of services and evaluates services for adherence with established federal, state, county policies, procedures, and guidelines. Additionally, you will oversee the Developmental Services program of BHDS to assure quality and compliance with legislative requirements of the 1966 Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities Act, the Department of Human Services, and all federal, state, and county mandates related to BHDS and to Developmental Services and Intellectual Disabilities. Other responsibilities include:

  • Studies, analyzes, and evaluates community needs and resources
  • Coordinates the review of data and documents pertinent to the continuation of existing services
  • Coordinates planning and development of new and innovative programs in the field of Intellectual Disabilities and Autism
  • Collects and reviews information to assess the impact on BHDS Developmental Services planning policies at the local, regional, and state levels
  • Collects and reviews information on the impact of proposed legislation to assess the impact on Developmental Services planning policies and programs
  • Participates in annual provider monitoring and acts as a coordinator to qualify all providers in Washington County.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position requires work outside of normal scheduled hours on evenings and weekends.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a County Intellectual Disabilities Program Specialist 2 (local government title); or
  • Five years of professional experience in the field of intellectual disabilities, including three years of administrative, supervisory, or managerial work, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes five years of professional experience in the field of intellectual disabilities, including three years of administrative, supervisory, or managerial work.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
