
Social Editor, Family Style: Freelance

What You’ll Do
Lead the day-to-day output of the Family Style social pages
Develop a tone that is smart, culturally aware, and internet fluent
Ensure everything we post feels intentional, relevant, and worth sharing
Shoot and edit short‑form video (mobile‑first)
Create talking head and educational videos
Produce chef interviews and street‑style content
Develop overhead recipe videos (clean, text‑driven, no talent required)
Build carousel posts and visual storytelling content
Identify and publish timely food stories and news moments
Cover major industry moments (awards, openings, trends)
Develop original angles and non‑obvious lists
Bring a clear point of view to everything we create
Manage a consistent posting cadence (10–15 posts per week)
Balance content across key pillars:
Food media / reporting
Educational content
Original video
Memes
React quickly to cultural moments
Food culture (chefs, restaurants, trends)
Internet culture (memes, tone, pacing)
Youth culture at large
Work with our designers, editors, and leadership
Help source chefs, collaborators, and contributors
Be part of building something from the ground up
Track performance across content
Understand what drives engagement and sharing
Double down on what works
Who You Are
2–3 years of social media and editorial experience with a publisher or brand
A deep understanding of the Complex content, voice, and tone
Strong understanding of food and restaurant culture
Positive, intuitive, proactive, and collaborative team player
Strong writing and communication skills, proofreading experience, and quick decision‑making skills
Ability to shoot and edit content independently
Willingness to appear on camera in social media content
Must be willing to work nights and occasional weekends/holidays for coverage of live events
Robust knowledge of streetwear/fashion and how it connects to areas such as pop culture, sports and music
Possess a deep understanding and fluency of all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube Shorts)
Extensive knowledge of culture and proven track record in driving audience and consumer action on social
Remain up‑to‑date on what our competitive set is doing to ensure that our lane isn’t being stepped on
Self‑management skills + take‑charge attitude
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Premiere Pro

$27 – $28 an hour
The Pay Range, which consists of rate of pay per hour, for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, experience, and performance.
