Mechanical Estimator
Based full time in our Wilmington, Massachusetts, office, we are looking for a mechanical estimator to support our sales of air ventilation and filtration equipment. The Estimator has mastery in utilizing commercial blueprints to complete material takeoffs to determine material required to complete installations for new construction projects provided by our strong customer base of mechanical and sheet metal contractors. We are looking for an Estimator to work with our established customer base, to work with our HVAC air distribution and control products (primarily our Nailor and Portoff Product lines) where we are an exclusive rep for these in the region. Key Accountabilities
Identify target opportunities by reviewing incoming invitations to bid. Download contract documents for review including plans, specifications and associated docs. Review contract documents as required, utilizing vendor estimating software to creating pricing. Create detailed takeoff's using Planswift software for entry into estimate. Identify potential scope and design gaps at the time of estimate. Ability to read drawings, input orders, and communicate effectively with customers Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Interprets blueprints and CAD drawings to create take-off lists. Estimates the amount of materials to complete the installation of HVAC systems in new industrial and commercial projects. Communicates with other estimators, lead estimators, managers, and sales staff. Returns all necessary information back to the sales team for bidding promptly. Communicates all internal issues or questions to the Sr. Estimator or Branch General Manager. Ability to forecast the needs of materials per each blueprint. Ability to fill in for others as needed. Follows all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to safety. Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements
High School Diploma or GED; Associate's degree or higher preferred. 2+ years mechanical estimation experience, preferably in an HVAC ductwork environment. Skilled at reading and interpreting architectural blueprints. Must possess basic CAD operating skills. Familiarity with using Planswift or similar software that provides material take-off and load calculations Ability estimating software and perform load calculations efficiently. Computer competency is required, including a minimum of 2-year experience Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and Outlook. Fast learner Working knowledge of CRM (Salesforce) for tracking quotes and bid opportunities is a plus Must be able to communicate in English effectively, both verbally and in writing. Exceptional time management, multitasking, and interpersonal skills. Excellent research skills. Extensive knowledge of industry best practices and standards. Excellent attention to detail and be able to analyze information Customer service mindset. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task. Willingness to learn and be a part of a team. Positive attitude and a team player. Relevant work experience may be substituted for education. Ability to build positive relationships with customers, both internal and external. Ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and/or other sounds to operate phones or other office equipment safely. With natural or corrected vision, able to see and focus for close, distance, peripheral vision with normal depth perception. Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to others. Ability to enter text or data into a computer by means of a traditional keyboard or 10-key numeric keypad.
