About the Role Our client, a global leader in grocery retail and store innovation, is seeking a Store Designer to support its internal design team with core drafting and space planning work.

This role is focused primarily on CAD drafting, translating redlines, sketches, and technical direction into fixture plans and accurate AutoCAD files. The goal is to take foundational drafting work off the internal team so they can stay focused on higher-level design responsibilities and more complex initiatives.

This position will support a variety of project types, including pickup area updates, minor store renovations, new store development, and full‑store projects, depending on business needs. This is not a division‑co‑ordination role and does not require store walks. The ideal candidate is a strong independent contributor with solid drafting skills, clear communication, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.

What You’ll Do

Create and revise fixture plans and store layouts using AutoCAD

Translate redlines, markups, sketches, and technical input into accurate CAD files

Support drafting needs for store updates, renovations, and new development projects

Ensure plans align with internal standards, timelines, and project requirements

Partner with the broader design team to help keep projects moving efficiently and on schedule

What We’re Looking For

2+ years of experience in drafting, store design, space planning, interior design, architecture, or a related field

Proficiency in AutoCAD

Ability to interpret redlines, sketches, and technical direction to produce accurate plans

Understanding of architectural and engineering drawings

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and priorities

Self‑starter mentality with the ability to work independently without constant direction

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Associate’s degree accepted; relevant hands‑on experience is valued over a bachelor’s degree

Preferred Skills

Rendering skills

Exposure to construction, fixture design, merchandising, or retail operations

Experience presenting design concepts or solutions

Direct client or stakeholder interaction experience

Leadership ability and confidence providing planning guidance to peers or partners

The internal design team includes approximately 18 designers within a broader team of about 28 total members, including supervisors and support roles. Work volume is continuing to grow, and this role is designed to help the team move faster while maintaining accuracy and quality. While more advanced work carries a learning curve due to client‑specific merchandising operations and processes, this position is intentionally centered on core drafting execution.
