Senior Director Technical Accounting and Reporting
Mountain View, CA – Hybrid We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Senior Director of Technical Accounting and Reporting to lead our technical accounting, reporting, payroll, equity, and revenue functions. In this critical leadership role, you will manage a multidisciplinary team overseeing Revenue, Equity, and Payroll, while acting as the primary technical accounting resource for the company. You will own the preparation of our financial statements and partner extensively across the organization—particularly with FP&A, Legal, and Deal Desk—to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and strategic alignment with our growth objectives. What You’ll Do
Team Leadership & Operations: Manage, mentor, and lead the Revenue Recognition, Equity, and Payroll teams, ensuring accurate and timely execution of all related business and accounting operations. Financial Statement Reporting: Own the end‑to‑end preparation and execution of the company’s U.S. GAAP financial statements and accompanying footnote disclosures. Technical Accounting: Lead all technical accounting research and evaluate the accounting impact of complex, non‑standard transactions. Draft and maintain technical accounting memos. Revenue Recognition & Forecasting: Partner closely with the FP&A team to provide accurate data and strategic insights for revenue planning, forecasting, and cash flow management. Deal Desk & Legal Partnership: Collaborate with Legal and Deal Desk during contract negotiations to review non‑standard terms, ensuring optimal revenue recognition outcomes and compliance with ASC 606. Audit Management: Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors. Manage the end‑to‑end audit process, ensuring all deliverables are provided timely and resolving any audit inquiries. Ad Hoc Projects: Drive special projects as they arise, such as implementing new accounting standards, system migrations (e.g., ERP implementations), process automation, and M&A integration activities. Your Qualifications
Active CPA license is required (Big 4 public accounting experience highly preferred). 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong mix of public accounting and industry experience in a leadership role. Deep subject matter expertise in U.S. GAAP, specifically ASC 606 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers). Hands‑on experience with key financial and operational systems, specifically NetSuite, Carta, and Salesforce. Proven track record of managing and scaling diverse accounting teams (Revenue, Equity, Payroll). Excellent cross‑functional collaboration skills, particularly with FP&A, Sales/Deal Desk, and Legal teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex accounting concepts for non‑finance stakeholders. Compensation
The standard base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $220k - $250k annually. Pay varies by work location and may also be dependent on job‑related skills, knowledge, and/or experience.
