Director of Quality Assurance
Elios Talent, Houston, TX, United States
Overview
We are seeking a Director of Quality Assurance to set the standard for how quality is defined, enforced, and scaled across the organization. This is a leadership role focused on elevating quality to a core engineering discipline, not a support function.
You will operate at a systems level, influencing how products are built from the ground up. This role requires someone who will challenge teams, push leadership, and remove anything that compromises product integrity.
This is not about maintaining QA. It is about redefining it.
What You’ll Do
Set and enforce the quality bar across all teams consistently and without exception
Define and drive a unified QA strategy that scales across products, platforms, and teams
Hold engineering accountable for building testable, observable, and resilient systems
Influence architecture and design decisions early to prevent defects rather than detect them
Establish automation as the default through scalable test frameworks and CI/CD integration
Proactively identify and surface risk before it impacts customers
Remove friction from release pipelines to increase both speed and confidence in delivery
Elevate the organization’s quality mindset by mentoring engineers and QA into stronger technical leaders
Continuously challenge outdated practices and drive measurable improvements in quality and velocity
What You Bring
10+ years of experience in Quality Assurance with a proven track record of driving transformation at scale
Experience operating at a Director level with influence across engineering teams and leadership
Deep expertise in test automation, CI/CD, and modern quality engineering principles
Strong ability to uphold high standards and drive change in complex environments
Architectural and systems thinking with a deep understanding of how quality propagates across distributed systems
A mindset where quality is foundational and non negotiable
Preferred Experience
Experience working in high growth or product driven environments
Background in modern engineering ecosystems including cloud native architectures and microservices
Familiarity with observability tools, performance testing, and reliability engineering practices
Hybrid role based in Houston, TX with in person collaboration expected
