THE PURPOSE: The Human Resources Business Partner serves as a strategic advisor to retail and corporate leadership, driving employee relations excellence, workforce planning, and people development initiatives. This role partners closely with District Managers and corporate leaders to support business objectives through data‑driven insights, talent strategy, and strong manager capability.
While this role oversees employee relations matters and investigations, it operates primarily as a proactive HR leader — identifying trends, strengthening people processes, and implementing solutions that elevate performance and organizational health. This is not a transactional HR position; it is a visible business partner who anticipates risk, influences leadership decisions, and takes action based on workforce insights.
THE ROLE (what you are accountable for): Strategic HR Partnership & Workforce Planning
Serve as a trusted advisor to District Managers and corporate leaders, aligning people strategy with business goals
Analyze employment data points (turnover, engagement, performance trends, corrective actions, exit data) to identify patterns and actionable insights
Lead talent planning and succession strategies in partnership with District Managers, strengthening bench depth and implementing targeted people initiatives to support critical or high‑risk stores.
Identify workforce trends and proactively implement solutions to improve retention, performance, and culture
Employee Relations & Investigations
Manage employee relations matters across retail and corporate populations, including performance concerns, policy interpretation, and workplace issues
Lead investigations as needed (harassment, discrimination, retaliation, policy violations), ensuring fair, timely, and compliant resolution
Provide clear documentation, findings summaries, and risk‑based recommendations
Partner with the Director of HR and Legal on complex or sensitive matters
Ensure consistent and compliant application of policies across multi‑state operations
Manager Coaching & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Coach managers on performance management, documentation, conflict resolution, and corrective action best practices
Serve as a key liaison between managers and HR, ensuring alignment and consistency in decision‑making
Work cross‑functionally with Talent Acquisition to align hiring strategies, monitor hiring trends, and support workforce planning
Collaborate with Payroll, Benefits, and other HR functions to ensure cohesive and equitable employee outcomes
Employee Development & People Process Leadership
Lead employee development initiatives to strengthen leadership capability across the organization
Design and facilitate “train‑the‑trainer” programs to improve management effectiveness and consistency
Help develop and refine scalable people processes that enhance compliance, efficiency, and employee experience
Recommend training programs, policy updates, and process improvements based on workforce data and business needs

REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
3–5+ years of progressive HR experience supporting both retail and corporate populations
Experience managing employee relations and workplace investigations
Strong knowledge of California and multi‑state employment laws and HR best practices
Experience analyzing workforce data to drive strategic decisions
Strong written and verbal communication skills
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated ability to influence and build trust with leaders at all levels
HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP, SHRM‑SCP)
Experience partnering with Legal and senior leadership
Microsoft suite program knowledge
ADDITIONAL ROLE INFORMATION:
Compensation:
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $105,000 – $125,000. This is a full‑time, exempt position. This range represents the low and high end of the expected base salary range for this role based on the applicable location. True Religion reasonably expects to pay within this range in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and internal equity.
