What You’ll Do:
Manage the Electrical Engineering team, including system generalist engineers and SMEs: RF, camera, power
Be a key leader for all NPI projects, ensuring the team is designing to a high standard, solving problems effectively, and that our devices are capable of achieving performance targets.
Critical partner to the TPM and Embedded software teams
Author and implement process improvements as we improve how we design, validate, and qualify our products and partners
Influence product roadmap by offering innovative technology options and by highlighting major risks.
What We’re Looking For:
10+ years of experience as a hardware engineering leader, OEM, ODM, JDM all valuable
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Experience managing teams of engineers and being responsible for multiple projects concurrently
Experience with board bring up, power supply and signal integrity testing as well as debug and root cause analysis
Experience with various interfaces such as I2C, UART, SPI, USB, MIPI, I2S, DDR, eMMC, NAND flash etc.
Experience with Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, 4G/5G, cameras, batteries, and other peripherals
Additional Competencies for Sr. Director of Hardware Engineering:
15+ years of experience as a cross-functional engineering leader
Experience managing the full engineering lifecycle for Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Reliability, Quality, Sustaining teams
Able to define electromechanical architecture as well as vendor selection criteria
Clear communication skills and ability to manage escalations with CEO-level visibility
This role is not fully remote. It requires 2 days per week in our San Francisco, CA office.
