Staff Product Manager, Metacognition
Fastly is looking for a Staff Product Manager to help define and lead our next‑generation platform intelligence experience as part of the Metacognition Team. This team is responsible for how customers understand, trust, and act on everything happening across the Fastly platform, from performance and reliability to security and cost.
Our mission is to provide the reporting, analysis, visualizations, intelligence, and underlying data pipelines that help customers navigate constant uncertainty and continuously adapt. You’ll play a central role in shaping how signals across the platform become clear, actionable insights, from developer workflows all the way to executive‑level narratives.
This role sits at the intersection of observability, security intelligence, reporting, and platform UX, and is critical to Fastly’s broader platform and growth strategy.
What You’ll Do
Own and drive the vision and roadmap for Fastly’s intelligence layer, spanning observability, reporting, security insights, and executive‑level summaries.
Define what signals matter across the platform—performance, reliability, security, and usage—and ensure they are accessible, trustworthy, and actionable.
Translate complex system behavior (logs, metrics, events, threats) into intuitive visualizations and narratives for both technical users and business stakeholders.
Partner with engineering to evolve data pipelines, ingestion, and analysis systems that power real‑time and historical insights at scale.
Collaborate with design to create cohesive, unified experiences across dashboards, alerts, and reporting surfaces.
Work cross‑functionally with security, platform, and go‑to‑market teams to ensure insights reflect real customer value and drive adoption.
Define and track success metrics that demonstrate both customer value (time‑to‑insight, actionability) and business impact (adoption, expansion, retention).
Help tell the story of Fastly’s value—internally and externally—by enabling customers (and our teams) to clearly see the impact of the platform.
What We’re Looking For
7+ years of product management experience, ideally in developer tools, observability, security, or platform infrastructure.
Strong understanding of logs, metrics, and event‑driven systems—and how they translate into real‑world debugging, optimization, and decision‑making.
Experience turning complex data into intuitive user experiences, dashboards, or reporting tools.
Demonstrated ability to operate across multiple domains (e.g., observability + security + UX) and bring them into a cohesive product vision.
Strong customer empathy, with the ability to translate raw signals into meaningful insights and actionable outcomes.
Experience working cross‑functionally with engineering, design, marketing, and sales to deliver impactful products.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to connect technical details to executive‑level value.
We’ll Be Super Impressed If You Have Experience In These Areas
Observability tools like Datadog, New Relic, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
Security analytics, threat intelligence, or attack visibility systems.
Building unified dashboards or reporting systems that serve both technical and business audiences.
Edge computing, CDN infrastructure, or distributed systems.
Data analysis and experimentation (SQL, Amplitude, Mixpanel, etc.).
Designing insight‑driven product experiences in SaaS platforms.
