Role Description This is a full-time, hybrid role with in-office requirements. The position involves covering local news stories, conducting interviews, writing articles, and creating multimedia content to engage readers. The City Reporter will investigate and report on topics impacting San Francisco and the Bay Area, while adhering to tight deadlines. This is a beat that spans City Hall and small businesses, housing and homelessness, transit, culture, and the shifting tech-economy landscape — and we’re looking for someone who can connect the dots with clarity and empathy. The role is based in San Francisco, CA, with flexibility for occasional remote work.
Qualifications
Experience in Reporting and News Writing
Strong Communication and Writing skills
Report and write daily news stories, features and enterprise pieces with accuracy, fairness, and depth.
Build and maintain relationships with city officials, community leaders, local organizations and residents across San Francisco’s diverse neighborhoods.
Pitch compelling, original story ideas that reflect the city’s complexity and the voices often underrepresented in mainstream media.
Collaborate with editors, photojournalists, designers and data teams to enhance storytelling across platforms.
