Position Summary Reef is seeking a Debt Asset Manager who will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate loan debt within Reef’s private credit strategy. This includes active oversight of asset performance, financial analysis, borrower relationship management, loss mitigation strategies, and working closely with internal teams and third-party stakeholders to optimize investment outcomes.
Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of commercial real estate loans, including bridge loans, construction loans, business, and mezzanine debt.
Monitor borrower performance through financial reporting, site inspections, and regular communication.
Conduct detailed cash flow and scenario modeling in Excel to evaluate asset performance and risk.
Identify early signs of underperformance or default and develop mitigation strategies.
Lead or assist in loan workouts, restructures, and enforcement actions as needed.
Maintain comprehensive loan files and track key loan covenants and milestones.
Collaborate with internal underwriting, legal, and development teams to support investment decision-making.
Provide regular portfolio reporting and updates to senior management and investors.
Support the disposition or recovery of non-performing assets, including REO management if applicable.
Monitor and manage third-party vendors (e.g., servicers, property managers, brokers).
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in real estate asset management, lending, debt, or private credit.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business, or a related field. MBA or MSRE is a plus.
Strong Excel skills, including financial modeling.
Solid understanding of commercial real estate fundamentals, markets, and valuation.
Experience with loan servicing, loss mitigation, and managing defaulted or distressed loans.
Familiarity with development projects and construction loan monitoring is a strong plus.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
