Director of Curriculum and Instruction
Saint Bernadette Catholic School, a parochial PreK - 8th grade school in West Springfield, VA, seeks a full‑time Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the 2026‑2027 school year. This 12‑month position focuses on curriculum development, instruction quality, and student growth within a Christ‑centered learning environment.
Responsibilities
Use school‑wide data to plan continuous improvement in curriculum, instruction, and co‑curricular programs to promote academic excellence and growth;
Present instructional best practices to promote student growth (e.g., coaching, workshops);
Create master schedule for students and teachers;
Obtain substitute teachers as needed;
Review weekly lesson plans to ensure alignment with diocesan curriculum guidelines;
Provide strong leadership to promote a positive, supportive, Christ‑centered learning environment;
Supervise teachers and present curriculum;
Assist administration in articulating and implementing the school's mission and vision;
Facilitate faculty professional learning communities to continuously improve curriculum and instruction, promoting student growth;
Coordinate standardized testing;
Oversee teacher mentor program;
Coordinate opportunities for student faith formation and service;
Meet with parents to proactively resolve classroom issues;
Supervise students at arrival, dismissal, and lunch;
Organize co‑curricular activities which support the whole child, developing the child’s God‑given talents;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Deep devotion to the Catholic faith;
Minimum of 5 years experience K‑12 classroom teaching;
Expertise in curriculum, instruction, program assessment, and data analysis;
Leadership style that maintains high expectations, fosters collaboration, and focuses on student success;
Strong classroom management techniques;
Effective verbal and written communication skills;
Master’s degree in education (preferred) or related field;
Virginia state licensure or the ability to obtain VCEA certification in administration and supervision.
Position Type Full‑time.

Master’s degree preferred.
Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
