Assistant Director - Residential Program (Young Adult Recovery)

dWELL Recovery is a gender‑affirming recovery housing community dedicated to supporting young adults on their transition to independence. We are seeking a visionary leader to serve as our Assistant Director, a pivotal role that will lead our new Washington, DC dWELL Recovery location and our Transitional Living Program (TLP). This individual will be responsible for program operations, oversee resident care, support staff development, and ensure the highest quality of services. What You Will Do Resident Support & Case Management

Support residents through home visits focused on maintaining client goals, including morning routines, household organization, and schedule management.

Monitor medication adherence and assist with refill coordination as needed.

Develop weekly group activities and outings for the community, including facilitating weekend field trips and evening get‑togethers.

Responsible for resident and family case management in collaboration with senior leadership and other team members.

Conduct weekly parents calls with resident families to discuss residents’ progress.

Oversee all resident schedules in collaboration with team members.

Coordinate and complete the resident admission and discharge process to maintain an accurate daily census (bed flow, admissions, discharges) in collaboration with the Program Director and Executive Leadership.

Complete Quality Assurance reviews to confirm the documentation of ongoing residents is accurate and up‑to‑date with supervision from the Program Director.

Assist in providing crisis intervention as necessary.

Collaboration & Community Engagement

Attend weekly meetings with the interdisciplinary team to discuss clinical, financial, and organizational needs.

Connect with outside clinical care teams and medical providers to ensure residents are supported with clinical needs.

Assist in marketing the program and increasing the referral base.

Conduct dWELL Recovery tours for families of prospective residents as needed.

In collaboration with the Program Director, oversee program budget and expense reports.

Program Leadership

Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the program under the supervision of the Program Director.

Lead the completion of the weekly employee schedules.

Recruit, interview, hire, and train new DC team members with the Program Director.

Report to the Program Director and Co‑Founders of dWELL Recovery.

What You Need to Qualify

Bachelor’s (required), MA/MS (preferred) – either or both in a social science field.

At least 3 years of related experience with Substance Use Disorders and the 12‑Step Recovery Model.

At least 3 years of related experience in an adolescent or young adult treatment center.

At least 3 years of experience in a mental health facility, program management, or crisis management.

Strong supervisory or managerial experience with a proven ability to lead and develop a team.

Early morning, evening, and weekend flexibility to meet program needs.

CPR Certification (preferred).

Availability to participate in an after‑hours and weekend on‑call emergency coverage rotation, with a flexible schedule to accommodate resident needs, including early mornings and evening programming.

Schedule Mondays and Tuesdays from 8 am–4 pm, Wednesdays from 10 am–6 pm, Thursdays and Fridays from 11 am–7 pm. Must be able to work one Saturday or Sunday a month on rotation and provide emergency support onsite and by phone to staff in monthly leadership on‑call rotation.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 20–40 lbs occasionally (up to 50 lbs regularly).

Ability to stand, walk, or respond quickly during emergencies.

Ability to walk multiple levels of stairs multiple times daily.

Must be able to complete facility rounds and inspections.

Must be able to perform extensive standing, walking, and climbing; transport and stock assigned supplies, bend, stoop, and reach materials.
