HandsOn San Diego is dedicated to volunteer action—so much so that we are a volunteer-powered organization. As such, we are always looking for additional committee members. Each committee meets virtually at least once a month and has representatives from our staff and advisory board present. The Marketing Committee is focused on being the voice of our organization through marketing and outreach strategies. This is a remote/hybrid opportunity. Volunteers are welcome to utilize our office space while working on tasks or work from where they’re most comfortable. Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes Social Media: Write content and stories for social media and develop strategies that will engage social media users Marketing & Outreach Strategies: Research and develop strategies to promote HandsOn San Diego in the community as being the place to connect with volunteer opportunities Volunteer Recruitment: Research and develop content to engage volunteers behind the scenes Collateral & Website Content: Support team in creating and developing content and collateral Required Skills/Experience Strong communication and collaboration skills Interest in marketing, storytelling, and community engagement Ability to follow through on tasks and contribute to team projects Desired Skills/Experience Experience or interest in marketing, public relations, or advertising Skills in photography, videography, graphic design, and/or social media Previous nonprofit or for-profit experience (not required) Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation Time Commitment Approximately 5 hours per month, including a 1-hour monthly meeting and additional time for projects/tasks. Onboarding Process Short call with a HandsOn San Diego staff member Online background check (typically $17) Attend a 1-hour orientation covering HandsOn San Diego’s background and mission Review marketing and outreach strategies Receive an overview of goals, expectations, and tools for tracking progress Physical Requirements This project is able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations. Attire Professional or casual attire appropriate for virtual meetings and occasional in-person meetings.
