Apple Rehab Guilford is a 86-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center located in scenic Guilford on waterfront property along the East River.
Job Description The Maintenance Director demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and works as part of a team. The role ensures the safe, efficient and effective operations of all building systems. Responsibilities include supervising the Maintenance Assistant, coordinating and monitoring the activities of outside vendors, service, and repairmen to maintain the health and safety of residents, staff and visitors. The Maintenance Director advises personnel of potential interruptions or shutdowns, ensures compliance with facility policies regarding cleanliness, infection control, safety, security, hazardous communication, and fire and disaster plans. Documentation obligations include routine and preventive maintenance schedules, fire alarm and sprinkler system testing, generator testing, and other documentation to comply with local, state and federal law. The Maintenance Director is responsible for overall maintenance and repair of the facility’s physical plant, equipment, grounds and various systems, including plumbing, electrical and structural. Additional duties: planning work schedules for assigned personnel, attending department head meetings, and monitoring supplies to maintain adequate levels within budgetary guidelines.
Required Qualifications Ability to read and write in English, follow oral instructions in English, and understand labels and safety instructions and other department policies and procedures. Ability to perform routine plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and groundskeeping tasks, including painting, wallpapering, and snow removal. Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Ability to lift and move heavy items weighing approximately 50-75 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in a long-term care facility. Prior experience supervising others.
