
Store Protection Specialist

General Purpose
This position provides a visible presence at the store entrances and exits, mitigating theft and fraud and maintaining a safe and secure environment for associates and customers. The specialist makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all customers in a prominent, courteous, and friendly manner to deter theft, while monitoring the package‑inspection policy and walking the sales floor to address potential theft indicators.
Essential Functions
Maintain a safe and secure environment by understanding that safety is the top priority, practicing safe behaviors, and assisting store leadership in maintaining safety for associates and customers.
Provide a visible command presence in the required black vest, greeting customers and monitoring for safety issues.
Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers prominently, making eye contact, smiling, and answering questions in a friendly and courteous manner.
Treat all customers and associates with respect and demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
Recognize associates through company recognition programs.
Engage regularly with internal and external partners, including conference calls, scheduled meetings, and associate education.
Support loss‑prevention initiatives and execute company best practices to maximize productivity.
Monitor entrances/exits and the sales floor for suspicious behavior, gather theft indicators, and use internal or external intelligence to influence shortage trends.
Communicate findings to store leadership and loss‑prevention leadership effectively.
Train and educate associates on initiatives to reduce operational shortfall.
Validate proper checkout procedures for customers and associates.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required
High‑school education or equivalent required; an associate’s degree preferred.
One year of retail supervisor experience or similar training preferred.
One year of loss‑prevention/security training preferred.
Active security‑guard license preferred.
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with the store team.
Excellent customer‑service skills.
Proven ability to resolve conflict effectively.
Compliance with all applicable federal and state laws for security positions, including background screening, physical examination, fingerprints, and drug/alcohol testing.
Physical Requirements
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
Ability to lift or lower objects that weigh more than 25 lbs. between levels.
Ability to regularly bend, stoop, or crouch (frequency and duration vary by day‑to‑day operational needs).
Other assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
