
Architectural Draftsman (Architectural Designer / Drafting Technician)

Glancey Rockwell & Associates is seeking an experienced Architectural Draftsman to provide technical drafting and documentation support under the direction of a licensed architect in our Boise office. This role focuses on the accurate preparation of construction drawings and detailed documentation, ensuring that design intent is clearly communicated and compliant with applicable codes and standards. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in architectural drafting and documentation. Remote applicants will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed architectural drawings, plans, sections, elevations, and details based on design direction from the architect Translate conceptual designs into accurate technical documentation using ArchiCAD. Revise drawings and documents in response to redlines, markups, and project changes Assist in the development of construction documents across all project phases Coordinate drawings with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing consultants Maintain drawing standards, layering systems, and file organization in accordance with office protocols Assist with permitting submissions and respond to plan check comments Support construction administration tasks, including shop drawing reviews and as-built documentation Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in architectural drafting or design support Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and the Microsoft Suite. Proficiency in drafting and modeling software (ArchiCAD preferred; Revit and/or AutoCAD also accepted) Strong understanding of construction documents, detailing, and architectural standards Ability to read and interpret sketches, markups, and technical instructions with minimal supervision Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with construction administration processes Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Effective communication and ability to work collaboratively with project teams Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Office-based role located in Boise, Idaho, with a collaborative studio environment May involve occasional site visits or fieldwork
