Job Title: Experienced Architectural Designer
We are seeking an experienced Architectural Designer with 7–12 years of professional experience to join our team in Maryland. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in technical design and documentation, with the ability to take direction and independently produce comprehensive, accurate construction document sets. This role requires strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently across multiple project phases.
Responsibilities
Independently develop detailed architectural drawings and complete construction document packages from design direction or redlines.
Translate conceptual design guidance into fully coordinated technical documentation that meets project goals and industry standards.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and consultants to support project schedules and deliverables.
Prepare precise architectural plans, elevations, sections, and technical details with minimal supervision.
Ensure drawings comply with applicable local, state, and federal building codes, zoning requirements, and industry regulations.
Coordinate with engineering teams and other disciplines to integrate building systems and resolve design conflicts.
Conduct occasional site visits to verify existing conditions and ensure construction aligns with design intent.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction methods, materials, and drafting standards.
Identify and troubleshoot technical issues within drawing sets and propose effective solutions.
Contribute to improved workflow efficiency through strong organization, consistency, and document quality.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite.
Strong knowledge of building codes, standards, and construction practices.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
Licensed Architect in the state of Maryland (preferred).
Experience with government, academic, multi-family, commercial, corporate, and scientific/lab project types is preferred.
Work Environment The first 6 months are in the office, after which performance will be evaluated to determine continued work arrangements. Typically, Monday and Friday are work-from-home days, with Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the office. Work is conducted in a collaborative team environment, focusing on airport and aviation development projects.
Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based out of Columbia, MD.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $48.00/hr.
