Reports To: Director of Finance
Hiring Range: $70,000 – $75,000 Annually
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 AM-5 PM
The position may require work on weekends and evenings
About The Role As the Assistant Director of Finance, you will support and lead accounting and financial functions, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance across the organization. This role is integral to driving financial strategy, supporting programmatic success, and strengthening operational effectiveness in partnership with executive leadership.

What You’ll Do
Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and reconciliations
Prepare and present monthly financial statements and reports
Lead budget development, forecasting, and variance analysis
Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit regulations
Manage audits and coordinate with external auditors
Supervise and mentor accounting staff
Strengthen internal controls and streamline financial processes
Monitor cash flow and financial health of the organization
Manage organizational cash flow forecasting in collaboration with Program Directors
Partner with Program Directors to assess the financial effectiveness of programs and support operational success
Develop and implement financial and administrative systems to support program operations
Respond to inquiries from the CEO, Director of Finance, and Leadership Team regarding financial results and special reporting requests
Participate in team meetings and cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with executive leadership
Acts as the Director in the absence of the Director of Finance.
What You Bring Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of progressive nonprofit accounting experience
Preferred
Master’s degree in Accounting
10+ years of nonprofit experience, including grant management
Key Skills
Strong financial analysis and cash flow management
Audit oversight experience
Ability to present financial data clearly to diverse audiences
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners
Strong customer service orientation
