The Office for Translation & Commercialization (OTC) is looking for a
Technology Marketing Associate
to join our team. In this role, you will help bring Duke's cuttingedge research to life by identifying market opportunities, shaping marketing strategies, and connecting highimpact technologies with industry partners. You'll work closely with licensing staff, faculty, and communications partners to understand innovations across life sciences, physical sciences, engineering, and digital health. You'll translate complex discoveries into compelling marketing language, build targeted outreach campaigns, and develop technology portfolios that position Duke for commercial success. This is an exciting opportunity to use your scientific background while growing your expertise in technology marketing, business development, and intellectual property translation.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in biological/life sciences, engineering/physical sciences, or computing/information technology.
Two years of related experience in scientific research, writing, technical assessment, or market research.
OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in technology assessment, business analysis, or technology valuation.
Strong written communication skills with the ability to interpret and simplify complex scientific concepts.
Experience with social media tools (Facebook, Twitter, blogs) for strategic marketing.
Experience with research disciplines, scientific concepts, and technologyoriented products.
Understanding of the university technology transfer process.
Highly organized, detailoriented, collaborative, and able to set priorities independently
Other Requirements
Ability to develop and manage databases, contact lists, and marketing correspondence.
Ability to oversee and support a graduate Tech Transfer Fellows program.
Ability to leverage scientific publications and digital tools for marketing.

Develop and execute processes for nonconfidential marketing summaries for Duke discoveries.
Collaborate with licensing staff to assess markets for life science, physical science, and digital innovations.
Manage the graduate Tech Transfer Fellows program.
Develop targeted marketing plans for scientific inventions.
Use social media to connect audiences with Duke technologies.
Monitor analytics and track performance of marketing campaigns.
Build and maintain a publications database to support marketing efforts.
Create marketing materials, communications plans, and online content to promote inventions.
Maintain business contact databases and campaign correspondence.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $48,960.00 to USD $77,928.00. Duke University considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
